Our relationship with water begins in the daily routine-what we carry, what we use, what we discard. As people of spirit and conscience, we are invited into a deeper mindfulness. How may we shift our habits to better reflect our values?

Welcoming Summer Together
On Friday, June 20, Waterspirit hosted our Summer Solstice Celebration. This interfaith, family-friendly ceremony welcomed the summer’s arrival with music, movement, poetry, and prayer. Special guest musicians Patty Cronheim, Tom Parry, and Leah Michael Whalen shared their incredible talents with us. Yoga instructor Angel Tener led us through a reflective movement sequence inspired by the summer sun. Waterspirit staff and volunteers read guided meditations, prayers, and poems to help us deepen our connection to summer’s energy, including the ocean during this Ocean Month.
You can watch the recording of the ceremony on Waterspirit’s YouTube channel.

Recapping the 2025 UN Ocean Conference (UNOC3)
The 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) was held from June 9-13 in Nice, France. Waterspirit’s Executive Director, Blair Nelsen, attended the conference on behalf of our sponsors, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace (CSJP). This was her second time attending the Ocean Conference, after UNOC2 in Lisbon. Read a detailed update with photos in this post.
Defending Our Waters, Our Health, Our Future
Across faiths and traditions, we unite in the sacred responsibility to protect water. Yet again, in the Northeast region, our waters and communities face severe threats from fossil fuel infrastructure — including pipelines, compressors, and the false promises of thirsty false hydrogen solutions. In these moments, our long-haul commitment to water protection must remain steadfast.
