While this material has become a popular alternative to natural grass for playgrounds, sports fields and landscaping, but its impacts on ecosystems, waterways and public health. This webinar seeks to bring the information into the publics awareness.
Addressing Water Scarcity & Privatization Amid Drought
As we experience unprecedented drought conditions in the northeastern United States disproportionately, we must reflect on the complex relationship between water scarcity, the privatization of water resources, and the continued funding of fossil fuel infrastructure. Waterspirit’s team works to educate communities about the sacredness of water and the interconnectedness of all life. Water is a vital resource that must remain accessible to all, regardless of income or geography. In light of the current drought, we are sharing a few valuable resources to help you stay informed.

NJ Declares Drought Warning: Tips for Water Conservation

Exposing Risks of Hydrogen Hubs in Drought-Prone Areas: Calling for Justice and Transparency
Waterspirit is ever-committed to educating communities about the environmental implications of hydrogen energy and the role of hydrogen hubs in the U.S. energy transition. Our ongoing concern about hydrogen hubs is that the continued use of fossil fuels and copious amounts of fresh water for hydrogen production would exacerbate environmental degradation in communities already burdened by pollution and drought. In this Environmental Health News double feature article, each of the potential areas across the land are represented. Waterspirit’s Public Policy & Justice Organizer, Rachel Dawn Davis, speaks from experience with the MACH2 Hydrogen Hub as to the failure of federal efforts to fully uphold Environmental Justice (EJ) principles, emphasizing the importance of transparent, inclusive decision-making in energy infrastructure planning.

Public comment is an act of spiritual Earth care, ensuring that the decisions made today do not endanger future generations or the sacred balance of our ecosystems. Join us on Thursday, November 14th at 12:00PM ET via zoom for the next opportunity to ask PVSC Commissioners to re-think the project and start again with public health and renewable energy alternatives in mind.
