Waterspirit Celebrates Vote Early Day with Gentle New Moon Yoga to Ensure Voters Make Their Voices Heard
RUMSON, NJ- Today, local eco-spiritual nonprofit Waterspirit announced they will join thousands of organizations across the country in celebrating Vote Early Day. Vote Early Day is a civic holiday founded by national nonprofits, businesses, election administrators, and influencers to ensure that every American has the tools and knowledge to cast their ballot early for the upcoming midterm election and beyond.
We believe we can do better when we work collaboratively and plan for a livable future upon a coastal state. There is ample funding available to support some preventative measures, such as green infrastructure. There is power in linking these funds with people and projects. Check our latest webinar on this topic from 10/7/2024!

This week, we invite you to join us to reflect on the challenges of drought, celebrate our connection to sacred Earth, and explore the healing power of community through yoga, art, and shared voices from the Amazon, all while we keep you updated on our Executive Director's journey at COP16 in Colombia.
In response to persistent dry conditions and significantly below-average rainfall, the Murphy Administration has declared a statewide Drought Watch, urging residents and businesses to conserve water. The declaration comes as New Jersey experiences ongoing stress on its water supplies, with the last three months showing marked declines in streamflow, reservoir, and groundwater levels.
In times of drought, our relationship with water becomes even more critical. Water scarcity not only affects drinking supplies but also impacts agriculture, wildlife, and our overall quality of life. The droughts we experience serve as a stark reminder of the delicate balance we must maintain with our environment. Each drop of water we save today is a step towards securing a sustainable future for generations to come.
We urge all community members in Manalapan to engage with an important ballot measure that could significantly impact the water system. The future of this water supply is at stake, and your voice is crucial.
In Manalapan, there has been painted a false choice:
1) Voting to privatize part of its water system permanently, not just on a contractual basis, or
2) costs being raised significantly for all residents.
Alternatively, voting against the measure, forcing a restart offers the opportunity to begin again, looking to other, more creative alternatives. Review our recap from the initial community meeting here, where our Public Policy & Justice Organizer raised the idea of partnering with local public systems, resulting in a positive response from the Township Committee and residents in attendance.
If Manalapan residents vote to privatize, they will lose the ability to control their water system indefinitely. A majority NO vote would offer the chance to explore partnerships with nearby public water providers rather than hand our resources over to a corporation known for overcharging and inadequate service.
