Urge the EPA To Regulate Microplastics Before 31st Aug

We urge all Waterspirit community members to submit a comment to tell the Environmental Protection Agency they must include microplastics on the Sixth Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR 6).

Droves and droves of comments are required at this juncture to urge transparency about the microplastics we know are everywhere.

Recall, we have been successfully advocating at the state level, and 13 other states are also calling for the EPA to monitor microplastics.

How Do I Submit A Comment?

  1. Visit: Regulations.gov

  2. Provide your details and add your comment in the comment box or else attach a longer document. (This is your choice!)

Sample Comment:

What we do to sacred Earth, we do to ourselves. The bioaccumulation of microplastics in our waterways, soils and living tissue remains a sympton of a most profound disruption in our relationship with nature.

I urge you to include microplastics on the Sixth Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR 6) We deserve to know if our drinking water is contaminated with these tiny plastic particles. Monitoring will inform us so that we can take action to protect ourselves now and it will inform future action by the EPA to ensure that our drinking water is safe from microplastics. Stricter standards are necessary.

This proposal for public comment remains open until August 31, 2026. Please share it widely amongst at least 5 other individuals. Want to do more? Join us as a Waterspirit volunteer!
