While we at Waterspirit did express and gather opposition to a bill S4296/A4881 dubbed the "Power Act NJ" that seeks to promote radioactive nuclear waste through state agency funding, the bill was passed.

Waterspirit joined over a dozen organizational partners detailing opposition to this bill that would provide no real rate relief for NJ ratepayers and lacks a fiscal note describing cost impacts for residents and the state.

Script: Hello, I’d like to urge that Governor Sherrill veto bill S4296/4881. As a constituent and person of faith, I am called to reach out to you. My faith teaches I must speak out to prevent injustice and nuclear waste is not worth investmenst in time or money at this point in climate crisis. Advancing radioactive nuclear waste during prolonged drought is not the correct path forward toward a just and stable renewable energy future.
